TACOMA — Sound Transit's Board of Directors Thursday selected the North Downtown Central corridor route, which runs through the city's Stadium District and Martin Luther King Jr. mixed-use area, as its preferred line for the expansion of light rail in Tacoma.
The 2.3-mile route will be further defined and evaluated as part of the environmental review process. Once the review is complete, the board is expected to take final action on the route, station locations and project funding.
