3-foot chunk stuck in Seattle tunnel machine

SEATTLE (AP) — Crews have found a 3 1/2-foot hard object lodged in the tunneling machine that’s currently stalled 60 feet under the city of Seattle.

WSDOT spokeswoman Laura Newborn said Wednesday crews are still investigating the front of the machine and have not concluded what has been causing problems. Officials say the large object is either a boulder or piece of concrete that got stuck within the massive spokes of the machine called Bertha.
