Sound Transit is beginning the search for developers to build around the Capitol Hill light rail station.
The agency issued a request for qualifications Friday for four parcels near the station on Broadway between East John Street and Seattle Central Community College.
A minimum of 397 apartments could be built on the four sites.
Each site has its own requirements. Some must be mixed-use, others must be entirely low-income housing and others must participate in the city's Multifamily Property Tax Exemption program.
The sites are being offered individually, so companies that want to develop all four must submit documents for each property.
Responses to the RFQ are due by 4 p.m. March 24. Short-listed firms will be notified May 28, and there will be a public meeting with those firms in June.
A request for proposals for each site will be issued in June, with responses due Sept. 12. The winning firms will be notified in October.
