The U.S. District Attorney's Office last week said Imco General Construction agreed to a $200,000 settlement with the U.S. Department of Transportation for violations of the disadvantaged business enterprise program.
But Ferndale-based Imco says the federal government failed to charge the real offenders, and said it decided to settle to avoid a lawsuit that it estimates could have topped $100 million.
