LONGVIEW (AP) — The Cowlitz County sheriff's office says it has arrested a man accused of taking $2,500 from a 91-year-old Longview woman to fix a leaky window but doing no work.
Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig says the repair man first demanded $1,200 up front. He returned a few days later and demanded $300 more. Then he demanded another $1,000, which the victim paid. When he told her he needed $2,500 more, a financial adviser stepped in and helped the victim cancel that check. The man never did any work for the victim, who was not identified by the sheriff's office.
