SR99 tunnel dispute board sides with STP on 2012 issue

  • A WSDOT news release says the issue isn't related to stoppage of the tunnel boring machine Bertha or recent settlement near the rescue pit.

    A dispute review board for the SR 99 tunnel project has sided with Seattle Tunnel Partners on a $20 million change order request the contractor filed in late 2012.

    STP sought the change order for what it said were differing site conditions in the launch pit at the south portal of the replacement tunnel. WSDOT rejected the request and both parties agreed to ask the board for a recommendation.
