Gas pipe work surprises North Pole landowners

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — Land clearing has begun for a company that wants to distribute natural gas in interior Alaska, and some North Pole landowners say they received no notice that their yards would be affected.

Store owner Mike Gendreau arrived at home after work to find a 6-foot swath of brush and trees missing from in front of the home he has lived in since 1983, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.
