Lynnwood City Council has approved a development agreement for a seven-story, 347-unit affordable housing complex that will be part of the new City Center.

Construction could begin this summer, said Janiene Lambert, Lynnwood's City Center program manager.

The developer is from Laguna Beach, California, and is called CityCenter Apartments LLLP. Charles Morgan & Associates Architects of Everett designed the project, and CG Engineering of Edmonds is the engineer.

The apartments will be at the southwest corner of 196th Street Southwest and 37th Avenue West, across from the Lynnwood Convention Center.

The plan for City Center is to create a compact urban center near the Lynnwood Transit Center and a future Sound Transit light rail station.

According to the City Center website, two other City Center projects are set to begin construction this summer: a 308-unit senior housing project and a 150-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel.
