Construction women have a chance at TV stardom

A production company is planning to film a pilot episode for a reality TV show about women in construction and is looking across the country for five participants.

Burbank, California-based Treasure Trove Entertainment is seeking woman of all ethnicities between the ages of 20 and 65 who are outgoing and have a construction specialty. Specifically, organizers are seeking women with experience as a project manager, engineer, plumber, glazier, electrician, metalworker, carpenter, cement mason or brick mason.

Pay, meals and travel expenses to Los Angeles for filming are covered.

Treasure Trove said it will pitch the idea to a major cable network. If the pilot episode is approved, participants would need to commit one month to the project.

The show would not be a competition like “Survivor,” but more like “Deadliest Catch” or “Ice Road Truckers,” where workers are shadowed by a camera crew as they do their jobs.

An email from organizers said: “It's about female empowerment with a feel-good element. It's as much about their relationships as it is about their projects and the people they are doing it for.”

Showpitch.com is holding the casting and is in charge of promotion.

The deadline for applying is Sept. 4. More info can be found at http://tinyurl.com/TT-WIC
