ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — Organizers of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Astoria-Megler Bridge are pushing to have a historic ferry that took passengers across the Columbia River returned in time for the festivities.
The Daily Astorian reports that Tourist No. 2, the ferry, is scheduled to be dry-docked and inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard next month. After minor repairs are completed, officials hope to sail the ferry back to Astoria for the bridge commemoration.
