Charles Smith Jet City Winery

A 32,000-square-foot industrial building in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood has a new life as a space for wine production and tastings.

Charles Smith Wines bought the old Dr. Pepper bottling plant at 1136 S. Albro Place for Jet City Winery.

Work included replacing the roof system and floor slab, seismic upgrades, and a new design-build MEP system with larger capacity water and electrical systems. A glycol refrigeration system was installed, along with wine processing piping and equipment, a walk-in cooler for chilled storage, and four 2,300-square-foot refrigerated barrel storage rooms behind an insulated glass partition wall.

The office and tasting room have wine retail and storage areas, wine lab, a commercial kitchen, event space, public restrooms and an elevator.

High-end finishes were used throughout, with custom fabricated blackened steel interior and exterior storefront, and a specially designed metal panel system.
