Washington Women in Trades announced its 2016 Tradeswoman awardees. The winners are: Tradeswoman of the Year to Saskia Brown, carpenter foreman at Sellen Construction; Lifetime Achievement to Lori Frey, shipyard production superintendent at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Lee Newgent, executive secretary of the Washington State Building Trades; Active Advocate to Leanne Guier, political director of United Association Local 32 and Mayor of Pacific; Workplace Leader to Hope Honeywell, assistant product line manager at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard; Union Activist to Christina Daniels, inside wireman at JH Kelly/IBEW member, and Evelyn Shapiro, director of labor compliance/instructor at United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters; Tradeswoman of Tomorrow to Marquia Wooton, forklift operator apprentice on the SR 520 Bridge project; Peggy Cook Apprentice Award to Ashley Jones, heavy mobile electrician apprentice at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard; and Woman of Courage to Milissa Corrigan, electrician with Seattle City Light.
