Bertha is 320 feet from finish line

SEATTLE — Bertha has about the length of a football field to go before the tunnel boring machine reaches the end of its 1.7-mile dig near Seattle Center and Aurora Avenue North.

A news bulletin from WSDOT says mining rates will vary as crews approach the disassembly pit, so no one is making predictions on when the breakthrough will occur.
