The city of Seattle will give an overview of waterfront construction opportunities for women- and minority-owned firms — specifically for work on the Alaskan Way main corridor — on Oct. 8 at the Polson Building at 626 Alaskan Way.
General information will be provided at a 1 p.m. forum, and between 2 and 3 p.m., WMBE firms can network with prospective prime contractors, according to a notice in the Sept. 25 DJC.
Seattle's central waterfront will be transformed by removing the Alaskan Way Viaduct and the earlier replacement of the Elliott Bay Seawall.
City officials expect to seek construction bids later this year for a key part of the revamp: the Alaskan Way main corridor.
The new corridor will be in the footprint of Alaskan Way and Elliott Way, from King Street to Bell Street.
Construction is estimated to cost between $175 million and $200 million, and include structures, paving, grading, underground utilities, signals, landscaping, urban design elements and support services.
Jessica Murphy is the contact for the WMBE event, and may be reached at (206) 684-0178 or at jessica.murphy@seattle.gov.
