Rising above the flood is a difficult task

    The city of Snoqualmie recently received funding to raise 39 houses out of the way of floods. Contractors use jacks and cribbing to do the job.

    Water damage from Hurricane Sandy in 2012 is prompting thousands of property owners in New York and New Jersey to raise their houses to avoid potential damage from future hurricanes.
