Yakama Tribe bans new dairy feedlots

TOPPENISH (AP) — Members of the Yakama Nation have voted for a moratorium on new or expanded feedlot operations on the 1.2 million-acre reservation south of Yakima.

Tribal member Pam Wong says members are concerned not only about the smell and dust from feedlots, but also the possible effect such operations might be having on ground water.
