Beaver deceiver helps reduce flooding but preserves habitat

This device is being installed on Thornton Creek near Northgate Mall. It will lower the level of the beaver pond to reduce flooding, protect the beavers’ habitat and allow salmon to pass through.

Seattle Public Utilities and the Adopt-A-Stream Foundation are putting the finishing touches on a “beaver deceiver” on Thornton Creek near Northgate. The device is designed to stop the stream from flooding and lets young salmon pass through.
