Three buildings test new energy savings approach

Seattle City Light has launched a three-building pilot project to test a new way to offer incentives to building owners if they can show they saved more energy than predicted.

The program, called Pay for Performance, is also intended to reduce the utility's risk “since we only will be paying for actual conservation savings realized,” Superintendent Jorge Carrasco said in a statement.
