SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — In the face of determined resistance from rural subdivisions, the Forest Service has dropped plans this year for two paved trails from the Central Oregon mountain resort town Sisters.
Residents of the subdivisions said the trails for pedestrians, runners and bicyclists would be too close to their homes. Having sections along a highway could spook wildlife, causing more deer-vehicle collisions.
