CLE ELUM (AP) — Researchers are looking for ways to turn wood waste into energy, creating a market for smaller trees that would make forest-thinning economically viable.
A Salt Lake City company, Amaron Energy, has created a biomass reactor in a freight container to demonstrate how roasting wood chips can create three products: a flammable gas, oil that could be turned into plastics and a charcoal-like material that can be used to filter water or as a soil additive.
