Battle Ground schools find lead

BATTLE GROUND (AP) — Six schools in the Clark County city of Battle Ground have reported elevated levels of lead in their water.

The Columbian reports that testing shows that the six public schools have lead contents above the federal Environmental Protection Agency's recommended lead limit of 15 parts per billion.

The affected schools are Amboy Middle School, Captain Strong Primary School, Chief Umtuch Middle School, Maple Grove School, Yacolt Primary School and the Lewisville campus administrative office.

Battle Ground School District officials have shut off water sources that showed high lead levels and are changing those fixtures. Drinking water will be provided to students.
