Vancouver seeks bids for new park on 7 acres along the Columbia River

The city of Vancouver plans to start construction by December on a 7.3-acre park along the Columbia River.

Bids are due Tuesday, according to a notice in the Oct. 21 DJC. The estimated construction cost is $12.5 million to $14.5 million.

Work on the park is set to be finished in June 2018.

The park will have overlooks and pathways as well as play equipment, lighting, trails, an open lawn, plazas and an upland beach.

Grant Street Pier will be the centerpiece: a 90-foot-long, a cable-stay structure that extends over the river.

BergerABAM's Vancouver office is the prime consultant, and PWL Partnership of Vancouver, B.C., is in charge of the park design. HDJ Design Group of Vancouver is the civil engineer, Athay & Associates is the electrical engineer and Coast & Harbor Engineering did shoreline design.

Gramor Development of Tualatin, Oregon, and its investment partners are planning a 32-acre mixed-use development called The Waterfront Vancouver along the river.

Adjacent to that, the Port of Vancouver USA plans a 10-acre complex with biotech offices, housing, a hotel and retail.
