Real Estate Buzz: Selig hopes to derail new monorail

Walking into Martin Selig's office in his 1000 Second Avenue Building is like walking into the headquarters of Monorail Recall. Visitors are greeted by is a wooden sculpture of a grinning clown, which resembles the boss. A Monorail Recall T-shirt, emblazoned with Selig's name, is draped over the sculpture, and at the base is a yard sign for the group trying to derail the project.

Monorail Recall isn't housed at 1000 Second, but it is located in another Selig property. The space is part of the in-kind donations and cash Selig has contributed to the recall effort. Of the group's $77,000 war chest, Selig has provided more than $61,000, campaign-finance records show.
