Everything old is new again in Quito
In 2000, the city embarked on an extensive restoration project to save its historic center, deemed a world UNESCO site.

La Basilica del Voto Nacional towers above the Centro Historico district in Quito, Ecuador. Architects and restoration crews have finished more than 200 rehabilitation projects in the city’s historic center, including the cathedral, plazas, churches and blocks of colonial buildings.
