OLYMPIA — Washington State Parks and AdventureTerra of Seattle are offering guided tree climbs at Deception Pass State Park.

Certified tree climbing guides will oversee the roped climbs, and climbers will be outfitted with mandatory helmets, harnesses, safety glasses, foot holds and ascenders. Participants — age 7 and older — will learn climbing techniques and make a practice run before heading up into the treetops, where they can have a snack and enjoy the views.

The four-hour activity costs $149. There are beginner and sunset climbs. Reservations and information are at AdventureTerra.com.

The state said arborists determined that the activity does not pose a threat to the trees or wildlife.

Guided climbs are in the Hoypus Point area of Deception Pass State Park, 41020 SR 20, Oak Harbor.

AdventureTerra also has a permit for rock climbing classes at Larrabee and Olallie state parks.
