Wildflowers in bloom at Mount Rainier

You can see alpine flowers blooming at different elevations at different times through the fall. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll also spot a fox pup.

MOUNT RAINIER — Mount Rainier's wildflowers are now blooming and you can see vibrant displays of color — and maybe some cool wildlife.

Alpine flowers bloom at different elevations at different times so you can see them now through early fall.

Park officials say people hike trails such as Skyline Trail at Paradise or Summerland on the route to Sunrise, but there are also places to see wildflowers from a car, such as the meadows around Tipsoo Lake at the top of Chinook Pass. Crystal Mountain Resort's Mount Rainier gondola can quickly get you into the heart of wildflower meadows.

VisitRainier.com has links to a wildflower identification guide and wildflower reports. Visit Rainier is tweeting (#wildflowerwatch) and posting Facebook and blog updates on what's blooming and where.
