After Hours: Enjoy bonsai by candlelight Dec. 17

Need a little quiet time during the holidays? Discover the unique beauty of bonsai by candlelight at the Pacific Bonsai Museum.

FEDERAL WAY — Bonsai Solstice is back at the Pacific Bonsai Museum Dec. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. See the collection by candlelight while listening to Native American flute artist Gary Stroutsos and sipping coffee or hot chocolate.

The free event is kid-friendly. The museum was designed by Hoshide Wanzer Architects and The Berger Partnership, and is located on the former Weyerhaeuser headquarters campus at 2515 S. 336th St. in Federal Way.

Its mission is to connect people with nature through living art: a collection of 150 bonsai. About 50 trees are displayed at any given time in the outdoor space, and about 35,000 people visit the museum each year. It is the most diverse public collection in North America, with trees from Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the United States.

The museum says in addition to beverages from Caffe D'arte, P&J's Waffle Delights Food Truck will be offering waffle dinners.

Information is at http://www.pacificbonsaimuseum.org/.
