After Hours: Ceremony July 4 for new citizens



SEATTLE — Seattle Center will hold the Fourth of July Naturalization Ceremony from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4 at Fisher Pavilion.

U.S. Circuit Court Judge Richard C. Tallman will swear in over 500 people from more than 80 countries as new U.S. citizens.

The city of Seattle as well as the Citizenship and Immigration Services and U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington have put on the ceremony for 34 years.

All countries represented will be announced, and the eldest applicant and military personnel will be introduced. Speakers will include King County Executive Dow Constantine, Governor Jay Inslee and Senator Maria Cantwell. Navy Band Northwest will perform at 11:15 a.m., as well as the Total Experience Gospel Choir and Native American performers. The Children of our Nations will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
