AEM: Equipment industry has lost 37% of its jobs

  • Spending on construction equipment has fallen by more than 50 percent compared to its peak in 2006. AEM says the industry is in a ‘depression, not a recession.'
  • While the recession may be abating for some sectors of the U.S. economy, the construction equipment industry remains stalled, according to reports released last week by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

    AEM said 8 percent of all jobs lost during the recession — or two out of every 25 — can be traced to the ailing construction equipment industry.
