The average worker in the Seattle area earned $28.43 an hour in May 2014, which was about 25 percent above the U.S. average of $22.71, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Seattle also is the nation's highest paying area for computer programmers at $57.58 an hour, according to BLS. That's about 25 percent above the national average for computer and mathematical occupations.

The highest paid jobs locally are in management at $60.41, followed by jobs in computer and mathematical fields at $50.63.
