The Rush Companies of Gig Harbor hired Deanna Dargan as marketing director, and its Rush Commercial division hired Philip Wucinich as project manager and Jeff Wieser as project engineer. Dargan previously worked at BCRA and The Rescue Mission. She has 15 years of marketing and communications experience, and holds a bachelor's degree in English from Central Washington University. Wucinich came from AJ Brown Inc., and has more than 35 years of commercial construction experience. His projects are the Navy Federal Credit Union branch in Bremerton and the Madison Park office building in Sumner. Wieser came from Andersen Construction. He holds a bachelor's degree and a construction management certificate from the University of Washington. He is working on the Proctor Station project in North Tacoma. Rush anticipates up to 15 percent growth next year.

State Attorney General's Office

Attorney General Bob Ferguson named Peter Lavallee communications director for the Washington State Attorney General's Office. He was director of internal and external communications for the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia and handled press relations as administrator of the Clinton Legal Expense Trust.

Health care attorney Paul DeMuro has joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt's Seattle office as co-chair of the Healthcare Information & Technology practice. DeMuro is a postdoctoral fellow in a Ph.D. program at Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine and also holds an MBA, a J.D. and is a certified public accountant. He was previously in Schwabe's Portland office.

Western Washington University

David Davidson has been named interim director of the Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University. He was associate director from 2005 through July. Longtime director Don Alper is retiring at the end of the year. Davidson was the city administrator in Sumas.

Seattle-based Venture General Contracting hired Jennifer Creighton as senior project manager, Scott LaMar as project manager, Josh Dupar and Crystal Ward as project engineers, Shane Carlson as senior superintendent, and BJ Lemon and Brian O'Neill as superintendents. Creighton has 16 years of experience with residential, historic renovation, laboratory and commercial shell-and-core projects. LaMar has more than 15 years of experience with commercial shell-and-core construction, historic building renovations and tenant improvements. Dupar has eight years of experience with commercial and residential projects. Ward has more than 10 years of local real estate experience, including managing TIs and historical renovations. Carlson has spent more than 30 years building commercial, residential, historic renovation, healthcare and laboratory projects. Lemon has nearly 10 years of experience with historic renovations, laboratories, TIs and residential projects. O'Neill has spent more than 25 years building local TIs, healthcare and historic renovation projects.

ABC of Western Washington

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington next week is moving to the Bellefield Office Park. The new offices are in Suite 116 of the Arbor Building, 1621 114th Ave. S.E., Bellevue. Phone and fax numbers remain the same, but could be down during the move.

Pfeiffer

Auburn-based Novinium hired Wade Pfeiffer as senior vice president of sales and marketing. He was president and CEO of Safeharbor Knowledge Solutions. Novinium offers technology to solve circuit owners' infrastructure problems that save energy and resources, and reduce greenhouse gases. It has a patented process to extend cable life.

Washington State University

Don Barbieri has been appointed to the Washington State University Board of Regents, succeeding Connie Niva of Everett. He was chairman of Red Lion Hotels, chair of the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce and president of the Spokane Chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association. He now works on Smith-Barbieri Progressive Fund, which is focused on reducing poverty and expanding affordable housing.

Tree Top

Tree Top, Inc. hired Keith Gomes as its new president and CEO. Gomes has more than 30 years of food industry experience including Dairy Farmers of America and the Global Dairy Products Group. Current CEO Tom Stokes is retiring after 15 years and Gomes starts Jan. 5.
