Craft Architects hired Tyler Lyons as an intern architect/designer and Joe Palmquist as a senior project manager/architect. Lyons has experience in landscape design, design and fabrication, construction, architecture and furniture design. Palmquist has over 10 years of experience, and has worked on projects in the Northwest.

Tacoma-based JayRay is broadening its ownership and adding staff in branding, advertising and strategic communication. Kacie Leacy and Bridget Baeth have become shareholders. They are senior advisors and principals. Baeth joined the firm in 2013 and Leacy started there in 2007. New advisor Katie Whittier worked for the city of Burien as communications officer and for U.S. Senator Patty Murray. Lindsey Boisvin joins as an assistant advisor with experience in photography, graphic design, data visualization and journalism.

Cairncross & Hempelmann said Aurelia Tunru has joined the Corporate Finance & Business Transactions team. She advises private and public companies on M&A transactions, commercial contracts and corporate matters, and worked as a corporate associate at Jones Day in Cleveland.

NK Architects promoted Chris Jones to chief operating officer and hired Zack Semke as chief marketing officer. The firm said this will help with its expansion in the Mid-Atlantic region, its push for national growth in the Passive House market, and in adding engineering and development consulting to its architecture practice. Jones has over 16 years of experience that includes leading NK's townhouse and single-family studio, and operating a residential architecture practice. As COO, he manages operations and implements goals set by the board and CEO. Semke was “chief evangelist” at Hammer & Hand. He specializes in business development and marketing, and will help NK in the ultra-low-energy market. The firm has 29 full-time employees in Seattle and Pittsburgh, and said it is targeting 20 percent growth this year.

Seattle-based Rolluda Architects hired Susan Neaton as a senior project architect, Jiahui Wang and Gabriel Besser as project designers, and Eleanor Shull as an intern. Neaton has experience in the Northwest on new structures, renovations, building conservation, multifamily, commercial, retail and interiors. She is working on Fiber Arts Studio at Evergreen State College. Wang holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Michigan and was an intern architect in China, New Haven, New York and Seattle. She is working on the NOAA Sandpoint Building Green Infrastructure project. Besser has a bachelor's in fine arts from the Art Institute of Atlanta, a master's in urban design from Bartlett at the University College London, and a master of architecture degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He is working on Sound Transit's Lynnwood Link. Shull is attending California Polytechnic State Institute, San Luis Obispo, to attain a bachelor of architecture degree. She is assisting with Lynnwood Link. Rolluda provides architectural design and planning.

In Seattle, Sazan Group hired Rick Himmel as an associate and senior mechanical engineer, and Niels Fallisgaard and Jordan Jackson as senior project managers. Himmel has over 30 years of experience on office buildings, hospitals, labs, hotels and resorts, sports facilities, food processing facilities, theaters and data centers. Fallisgaard has over 30 years of experience managing and designing power, lighting and fire alarm systems for health care, housing and retail. Jackson has four years of experience as a construction manager and worked on projects for Boeing in the U.S. and Canada. Sazan provides mechanical, electrical and fire protection engineering, information technology systems consulting, MEP commissioning, and owner representation services, with an office also in Portland.

Landau Associates hired Daniel Simpson as a project geotechnical engineer in Edmonds and Mallory Skinner as a project coordinator in Olympia. Simpson has five years of experience in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. Skinner has eight years of experience in editing, writing and proofreading. Edmonds-based Landau provides geotechnical and environmental engineering, remediation, and permitting and compliance services.

Portland-based Murray, Smith & Associates hired Chris Rayasam as chief financial officer. Rayasam has over 10 years of financial management experience and a background in corporate finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis, strategic planning, risk management, human resources, and information technology in the engineering industry. He was CFO/COO and interim president at Otak. MSA is a Northwest consulting engineering firm.

BCE Engineers

Rodgers

Fife-based BCE Engineers promoted Justin Rodgers to associate. Rodgers has been with the firm for nine years, working on project teams. BCE is a mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering firm.

The Blueline Group

The Blueline Group hired Sam Turman as an engineering designer. Turman has two years of experience designing commercial, residential and academic projects in Silicon Valley and the Lake Tahoe Basin. Blueline provides civil engineering consulting services.
