McCurry

COWI North America hired David McCurry as chief project manager for bridges at its U.S. headquarters in Seattle. McCurry has over 18 years of design management on infrastructure projects in the Northwest, and was with HDR. His projects include South Park Bascule Bridge in Seattle. COWI North America is a bridge, tunnel and marine engineering consulting group.

Yoshiwara

The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges named Jan Yoshiwara executive director, replacing retiring executive director Marty Brown. Yoshiwara is the board's deputy executive director for education. Yoshiwara oversees grants, supervises research, builds partnerships and advocates for 34 community and technical colleges, which serve about 381,000 students.

Phillips Burgess Law said senior associate Trevor Zandell is president of Thurston County Bar Association. Zandell has served on the TCBA board for four years. The firm has offices in Olympia and Tacoma.

Perkins+Will hired Adrian Watson as principal and design director of the Vancouver, B.C., office, Shauna Pringle as project manager in the office's interior design team and Nathan Stolarz as a senior architect. Watson has over 25 years of experience and has been a design leader at global firms. He has worked on civic, commercial, transportation and master planning projects. Pringle is a senior interior designer with over 19 years of experience in corporate and hospitality design. Stolarz has over 11 years of experience on mixed-use, planning, multifamily, commercial and retail projects.

Marcellay

Tacoma-based Helix Design Group hired Olivia Marcellay as an interior designer. Marcellay has three years of experience that includes coffee shop projects for Starbucks, and hospitality/hotel work. Helix provides architecture, interior design and graphic design.

Hart Crowser named Brad Hermanson as manager for its environmental and natural resources business unit. Hermanson is a chemical and environmental engineer with over 30 years of experience in cleanup of sites with complex environmental challenges. Hart Crowser is an engineering, science, and consulting firm based in Seattle.

Renton-based Metrix Engineers promoted Melinda Herrin and Eric Nordlund to associate principal. Herrin has managed K-12 projects for Clover Park and Bellevue school districts, and oversees BIM modeling. Nordlund has managed K-12 projects for Highline and Seattle public schools, and handles IT administration. Metrix is a mechanical engineering consulting firm.

In Tacoma, AHBL hired Tyler Watkins and Matt Foster as project engineers and Ryan Givens as a land planning project manager. In Seattle, it hired Meredith Sessions as a landscape project manager and Patty Chen as a landscape designer. In Spokane, AHBL hired Matt Wright as a civil project engineer and Kevin Cash as a landscape architect. In Tri-Cities, it hired Jacob Lawrence as a survey crew member. Watkins holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University. He works on industrial warehouses. Foster spent four years in the Air Force and holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from University of Colorado. He works on the Sumner Early Learning Center. Givens has 17 years of experience in planning and urban design, with a focus in redevelopment and project design. He leads master planning for the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe. Sessions has 13 years of experience in the public and private sectors, and works on Azalea Way Centennial Garden. Chen holds a master's in landscape architecture from the University of Washington. She has experience as a research assistant, in graphic design and on projects in Taiwan. She works on Central Pierce County Fire Station 61. Wright has a bachelor's in civil and environmental engineering from the UW and experience in domestic water, transportation, sewer and storm drainage projects. He works on Linwood Elementary School. Cash has over 16 years of experience, and has been a landscape architect and project manager for WSU. He works on Linwood Elementary School. Lawrence is working on the first phase of the Plat of West Village — part of the Badger Mountain South master planned community. AHBL provides civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, community planning, and land surveying.
