Seattle-based Johnston Architects promoted Megan McKay to partner. McKay has worked on libraries, mixed-use and multifamily developments. She joins Mary Johnston as the second female partner at Johnston Architects, which provides architectural, interior design and planning services.

In Redmond, Otak hired Garrett Anderson as an engineering designer and water resource analyst, Bob Mileti as a structural designer and Joe Kraft as a land surveyor. Anderson is an engineer-in-training with experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design. He is working on drainage projects. Mileti is an engineer intern with four years of structural experience on bridge inspection, rehab design and load rating projects. He is working on a trail bridge for the Department of Natural Resources. Kraft has experience with ALTA/ACSM land title, boundary and topographic surveys; right-of-way research and plans; and final plats. He is working on 180th Street Southeast for Snohomish County. Otak is an urban design, architecture, planning and engineering firm.

Butler is senior counsel. He has over 40 years of experience in management, legal administration, strategy, public company issues and corporate governance. Gdak is a senior project manager. He leads an environmental team in the western U.S. that specializes in brownfield projects. Jackson is an electrical engineer with over 28 years of experience, with an emphasis on commercial and health care projects. Ruiz focuses on water and wastewater projects. He has 20 years of experience and provides project management, plan review and construction observation for public and private clients. Tobin is a project manager and engineer specializing in municipal water, sewer and storm drainage projects. He has 22 years of experience. Erskine is an electrical project manager and engineer with over a decade of experience. Fonslow is an electrical engineer, project manager and LEED designer with over 10 years of experience. Lemasa is a land surveyor and senior project surveyor who has over 32 years of experience. Woodward is a senior project manager and electrical engineer focusing on water, wastewater, power generation and industrial facilities. He has over 29 years of experience. Butler, Gdak, Ruiz, Tobin, Lemasa and Woodward work in Bellevue. Jackson works in Lynnwood, and Erskine and Fonslow are in Seattle. Stantec provides engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, construction services, project management and project economics.

Beveridge & Diamond

The national environmental law firm Beveridge & Diamond has opened an office in Seattle with five lawyers who were formerly with the law firm Riddell Williams, now Fox Rothschild. The lawyers joining Beveridge & Diamond as principals are David C. Weber and Loren R. Dunn. Emerson J. Hilton, Marshall R. Morales and Augustus (Gus) E. Winkes join as associates. Beveridge & Diamond now has 105 lawyers in eight U.S. offices. Weber and Dunn represent real estate developers, municipalities, engineering and construction firms, and other entities involved with contaminated property, environmental litigation and permit issues.

Tacoma Public Utilities Director/CEO Bill Gaines was elected vice chair of the American Public Power Association board. APPA represents 2,000 public power utilities in Washington D.C. Gaines is in line to chair the APPA board in two years. He is immediate past chair of the Large Public Power Council, which represents the 26 largest public power systems.

Kent Downtown Partnership

Kent Downtown Partnership has been designated an accredited Main Street America program for meeting standards of the National Main Street Center involving revitalization efforts, public-private partnerships, budgets and tracking progress. Randall Smith, president of Kent Downtown Partnership, said the group is focused on how the area looks and feels, and maintaining historic buildings.

Walsh Construction Co. hired William “BJ” Kuester as superintendent; Val Fisher as part-time administrator; Dehaan Yobech as IT support technician; and Nelson Moon, Ujwal Joshi and Tanner Romo as project engineers. Kuester is working on a Tacoma Housing Authority project on Wright Street, Fisher and Yobech are supporting the Seattle main office, Moon and Romo are working on a residential project in Bellevue’s Spring District, and Joshi is working on the Arbora Court apartment project in Seattle.
