Christensen Design Management

David Christensen of Christensen Design Management in Bellingham was certified as a National Fitwel Ambassador. The program was established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Fannie Mae and General Services Administration to help employers evaluate design that creates a healthy workplace.

Seattle-based Berger Partnership promoted Anna O'Connell to associate and Stacy Rowland to accounting manager, and hired Shannon Leslie as a project manager, and Kaiyue Fan and Christine Abbott as landscape design staff members. O'Connell has worked on multifamily, hospital and higher education projects. She is managing the Capitol Hill TOD for Gerding Edlen. Rowland was hired as a bookkeeper in 2005 and is a certified design firm administrator. Leslie has a background in green stormwater infrastructure. She is working on the Midtown Mixed-Use Development by Lake Union Partners, Capitol Hill Housing and Africatown. Fan has graphic and computer rendering skills, and a bachelor and a master of landscape architecture from Tongji University in China and Rhode Island School of Design, respectively. She is working on the WSU Plant Sciences Building in Pullman. Abbott has practiced architecture and landscape architecture. She taught architecture and landscape studios and seminars in history and graphic representation as a visiting assistant professor at Washington University in St. Louis. She is working on Totem Lake Park Phase 1. Berger is a landscape architectural and urban design firm.

Health care design firm Salus Architecture hired Faramarz Manteghi as an assistant project manager and Missy Hobson as office manager. Manteghi has over 14 years of experience in project management, planning and construction administration, and design production. At Salus, he has done projects for Evergreen Health, Swedish Medical Center and Northwest Kidney Centers. Hobson has a bachelor's in technical writing from the University of Washington, and has worked in Walgreens' corporate office. She created the Salus website.

Palewicz

In Seattle, Parametrix hired John Palewicz and Michael Horntvedt as senior consultants, and Janelle Hitch and Matt Austin as senior engineers. Palewicz has over 40 years of experience, including with the University of Washington managing general contractor/ construction manager and design-build projects. He will work on design-build and alternative delivery projects. Horntvedt has 23 years of experience in transportation planning, including at Parsons and Parametrix. He will support WSDOT and transit projects in the Puget Sound area. Hitch has 24 years of experience, including with the city of Bainbridge Island. She will work on Tacoma Dome Link Light Rail. Austin has over 10 years of experience, including as a project engineer at HDR. He will lead utility designs and assist with business development.

Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills Architects hired Sheila Gates-Ping as an architect and Emily Moline Meyer as an office manager. Gates-Ping has 16 years of experience, most recently with Steven Meek Architects. She is working on The Northern apartment complex in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Meyer provides administrative support, and supports financial, marketing, architectural project and staffing operations. She was with Urban Outfitters. Bernardo|Wills provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and master planning.

Samantha Hart joined Architects West as a front desk reception secretary. She has five years of hospitality experience, most recently as manager at the Westin in Kauai, Hawaii. Architects West provides architectural and landscape architectural/land planning services.

Seattle Colleges

Peralta

Rosa Peralta was appointed to a five-year term on the Seattle Colleges board of trustees. Peralta is an independent consultant working on civil rights, juvenile justice, community engagement, education and health care. She also serves on the boards of Latinx Health and TeamChild.

KNKX

Albertson

Steve Albertson is the first director of administration at KNKX, where he is overseeing human resources, finance, risk management and administrative functions. Albertson was director of instructor resource management at Xerox, and business development manager at RealNetworks. KNKX is a public radio station in Tacoma.

Snohomish County Council vice-chair Terry Ryan was elected president and Pierce County Councilmember Connie Ladenburg was named vice president of the Puget Sound Regional Council's Economic Development Board. Ryan also serves on the boards of other local transportation- and business-related organizations. Ladenburg has served on Tacoma City Council and was a state representative for the 29th Legislative District.

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington elected Mark Webster of MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions as board president for 2018-19. Other new officers are vice president Stacy Johnson of Auburn Mechanical and secretary/treasurer Jeff White of Holmberg Mechanical. New directors are Frank Leonard of Key Mechanical and Matt Campbell of General Mechanical. Jerry Bush of University Mechanical Contractors is immediate past president. MCA members consist of union-signatory plumbing, piping and HVAC contractors.

Bellevue-based Powell Construction Co. hired Bill Polis as director of business development. Polis has more than 35 years of construction business development and executive management experience. Powell is a general contractor serving Northwest clients for more than 30 years.
