He will lead teams of designers, coordinators and project managers as well as OpenSquare's technology and architectural products division. He has over 30 years of architectural and interior design experience. OpenSquare creates spaces that support creativity and the ways people work today, with offices in Seattle and Spokane.

Karam Dana received the 2018 University of Washington Bothell Distinguished Teaching Award, one of the school's highest honors. Dana is assistant professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. He was cited for his courses on social justice, fairness and equality.

The Pacific Northwest chapter of British-American Business Connections appointed Jeff Brennan secretary of its board executive committee. Brennan is general counsel and chief privacy officer for Vettd, a Bellevue-based artificial intelligence company. He worked in the telecom field for more than 30 years.

Snohomish PUD

Craig Collar, CEO and general manager of Snohomish County Public Utility District, will retire June 29. Collar has led the PUD for nearly three years, and previously was assistant general manager of power, rates and transmission. He joined the utility in 2006. The PUD expects to appoint an interim CEO/general manager by June 29.

Smith's practice focuses on securities and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial transactions, and general corporate law. In Seattle, Stantec promoted Troy Thrun to senior principal, Tim Janof to principal and Alison Fiedler to associate. In the Lynnwood buildings practice, it promoted Michael Newbury to senior principal, Tim Philomeno to senior associate, Ian Cotton and Rami Kataya to associate, and Kellen Davis, Kan Lee and Ben Nakamura to project managers. In the Lynnwood water group, it promoted Fangbiao Lin to vice president, global practice leader. Thrun is an electrical engineer with over 28 years of design and management experience in commercial, education, community and cultural projects, including for MOHAI and Amazon. Janof is an electrical engineer with 25 years of experience working on data centers, commercial buildings and schools, including projects for Microsoft. Fiedler is a lighting designer with eight years of experience, including on projects for Kemper Development and the Port of Seattle. Newbury leads the Northwest buildings engineering practice. He has 27 years in electrical engineering, leading health care, commercial and hospitality projects, including Swedish MC Issaquah. Philomeno is a senior program manager with 19 years of experience developing software and information systems for the buildings practice. Cotton is an electrical engineer with 11 years of experience in health care and commercial markets. Kataya has 13 years of electrical design experience on military and port facilities. Davis, Lee and Nakamura are involved in design and management of electrical projects. Lin has a background in hydraulics and fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, hydropower, hydraulic machinery and hydraulic engineering, with over 30 years of experience. In the Puget Sound region, Stantec provides engineering and specialty design services for buildings, transportation, water, waterpower and dams, and environmental services projects.

Kent-based Hermanson Co. hired Tim Healey as human resources director. Healey will oversee hiring and be a strategic business advisor on organizational and management issues. He has been an HR senior leader, most recently with the Opportunity Council in Bellingham. Hermanson provides mechanical construction, design-build engineering, and service/maintenance.
