In Seattle, BCRA hired Robert Estep as an associate architect and Juliana Loli as a landscape designer. In Tacoma, it hired Timothy Ho as an associate, Ashley McKnight as an architecture associate and Genevieve Herkert as an accounting assistant. Estep has 15 years of experience on projects, and was with IA Interior Architects. He is providing construction administration for the multifamily market. Loli has five years of experience on projects, with a focus on cultural and urban design. She is working on Soundview Playfield in Seattle. Ho is on the civil engineering team. He has six years of experience, including most recently at Blueline. He is providing site design for residential and retail markets. McKnight was with grouparchitect in Seattle for two years. She is collaborating on education projects. Herkert has 11 years of experience. BCRA is an architecture and engineering firm.

Ruff

Coffman Engineers appointed David Ruff as chief executive officer and president. Ruff was formerly president of the multidiscipline engineering company, which has launched an initiative to expand in the federal market. Former CEO David Gardner is now senior vice president, federal programs and will continue to be on the executive committee. He joined Coffman in 1990 and has over 35 years of experience as a civil/structural engineer. He worked in the federal sector as a civilian engineer with NAVFAC and has led Coffman's DoD work in Alaska and the Pacific Rim. Ruff is a mechanical engineer with an industrial focus and has been with Coffman for 23 years. The company said it finished 2017 with 465 employees in 14 locations, including Seattle, and $76 million in revenue.

HDR promoted Duncan Griffin from sustainability principal to managing principal of the Seattle architecture studio. He will work to expand the Seattle architecture practice, with an emphasis on triple net zero and net positive environments for civic, health care and science/education buildings. He has 25 years of experience, recently leading sustainable design for Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. HDR has over 300 architecture, engineering and related professionals in the Seattle area.

Seattle-based Caron Architecture promoted Katelin Carter Bonham to marketing coordinator, and Andrew Kluess and Pragnesh Parikh to associate principal. It also hired David Reddish as an associate principal. Carter Bonham joined Caron in 2015 as a graphic designer. She generates creative content for its print and digital channels, and has taken the lead in marketing and outreach. Kluess was promoted to lead the mid-rise multifamily and mixed-use team. His work includes The Central Apartments in Seattle. Parikh leads the high-rise team and is working on 8 Tower in Seattle. Parikh has over 30 years of project architect and management experience, including for Boeing, Kemper Development and Seattle Public Library. Reddish has been design principal and senior associate at several Seattle architectural firms, and has 30 years of experience in the region. He is designing a mixed-use project in West Seattle.

Elliott Bay Design Group

In Seattle, Elliott Bay Design Group hired Robert Ekse as a project manager. Ekse has 27 years of experience in the marine industry, including operators and shipyards along the West Coast. EBDG provides naval architecture, marine engineering and production support services.

Stantec

Patil

Stantec hired Chinmayee Patil as a sustainable building analyst in its Seattle buildings performance group. Patil has five years of experience in energy conservation analysis, modeling, research and documentation for buildings. She is working on the King County Children & Family Justice Center. In the Puget Sound region, Stantec provides engineering and design services for buildings, transportation, water, waterpower and dams, and environmental projects.

Exeltech Consulting

Price

Lacey-based Exeltech Consulting hired landscape architect Nicole Price to manage landscape services — a new offering it said will round out its environmental, civil and structural engineering solutions. Her landscapes will augment structures Exeltech designs, and support its environmental protection and enhancement efforts. She owned a landscape design and consulting firm and has worked on parks, housing, civic buildings, utilities, streets, bridges and transit facilities. She is in the Seattle office.

Blueline

Kirkland-based Blueline hired Lee M.Tomkins as a civil engineering designer. Tomkins has an associate's degree in civil engineering design and technology from Lake Washington Technical College and will work on residential, commercial and public works projects. Blueline provides civil engineering, land planning and landscape architecture.

Pierce County

Judith C. Archer was named Pierce County human resources director. Archer was director of human resources for nearly eight years at Texas-based energy infrastructure company Kinder Morgan. She also held positions at Tacoma Goodwill, Pioneer Industries in Seattle and Toray Composites in Tacoma.

WSU

Washington State University named Naidu Rayapati director of the Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Prosser, and assistant dean for the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences at WSU Tri-Cities. Rayapati studies virus diseases in crops, with an emphasis on wine grapes. He takes over at the extension center for Gary Grove, who remains director of WSU's AgWeatherNet.

Intel

Dhruvik Parikh of Bothell won the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award and $50,000 at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh. Parikh developed better ion-exchange membranes for industrial-scale batteries. Intel says the fair is the world's largest international pre-college science competition, involving 1,800 young scientists from 81 countries.
