In Bellevue, structural engineering firm Cary Kopczynski & Co. promoted Jerry Lee to research and development specialist, Zohrah Ali to project manager, Jason Thome to technical development specialist and Pamela Beltz to office manager/senior executive assistant. Lee has over 10 years of structural engineering experience. He coordinates CKC's pursuit of innovative design and construction, and continues as a senior design engineer. His work includes 1721 Webster and 2016 Telegraph towers in Oakland; and 355 Logan in Denver. Ali will work on business development and client relationships. She has 10 years of structural engineering experience, including residential, mixed-use and parking structures. Her work includes 1000 Virginia Tower, a residential high-rise in Seattle; and 14th & Alice Apartments in Oakland. Thome has over 13 years of structural engineering experience, and will help develop and manage CKC engineering standards and technical training. His projects include 3545 Wilshire in Los Angeles, and 325 7th Street Tower, a residential high-rise in Oakland. Beltz has over 10 years of experience with CKC. She manages the Bellevue office, assists the senior management team, coordinates special events, and is a project administrator.

In Seattle, Carla Wigen joined Laird Norton Wealth Management as managing director of fiduciary strategy. Wigen has nearly 20 years of experience in wealth management and private banking focused on trusts and estate planning. She was regional manager of investment and fiduciary services at Wells Fargo Bank, and started her career as an associate attorney at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, specializing in business, tax and real estate law.

GSA NW/Arctic Region

The U.S. General Services Administration appointed Corey E. Cooke as regional administrator of the Northwest/Arctic Region. Cooke was acting regional administrator. Before that, she served in GSA's central office as senior advisor for cyber and technology. She also worked as counsel and deputy parliamentarian in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mark Murray joined Code Unlimited as Seattle office manager and a senior analyst fire protection engineer. He was assistant director for the Building and Fire Safety Office with Environmental Health and Safety at the University of Washington, where he worked for over 20 years. He oversaw fire safety, and lab and occupational safety programs and participated in capital projects. Code Unlimited provides building and fire code consulting services.

In Spokane, ALSC Architects promoted Troy Bishop to director of design, Kim Phelps to director of technical design and Greg Francis to director of operations. Bishop has 14 years of experience. At ALSC, he has led design for Northern Quest Resort & Casino expansion, Whitworth University Athletic Leadership Center and Southridge High School in Kennewick. Phelps has over 22 years of experience. She has been a project manager for educational facilities that include North Pines Middle School replacement and Evergreen Middle School renovation/addition for Central Valley School District. Francis has over 25 years of IT experience, including managing large teams. He has an MBA from Gonzaga University and a background in technology specification and implementation, personnel management, budgeting, compliance, risk management and business process improvement. Carver spent eight years at OSPI, and has a background as a designer and grant administrator. KMB provides architectural services, security design and consulting, project management and graphic design.

In Seattle, Degenkolb Engineers promoted of Kyle Steuck to associate principal and Josh Sizemore to design engineer. Steuck was hired over 10 years ago. He leads the science and technology market for the office, has done large-scale projects for Boeing and the Department of Veterans Affairs, and is project manager for Katerra's new CLT factory. Sizemore was hired this year after completing a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois and researching steel braced frames. He has a Washington engineer's license and is working on projects that include the Katerra factory, construction means and methods for Washington State Convention Center, and the Graduate Hotel seismic upgrade and renovation.

Hermanson Co. named Dan Burns to its partnership team. Burns has over 20 years of construction industry experience focused on safety and project management. He has been a project manager and construction executive in his 15 years with Hermanson, and works in the Kent office. The company provides mechanical construction, design-build engineering and service/maintenance.

The Watershed Co. of Kirkland hired April Mulcahy as a landscape designer and arborist, and Grayson Morris as a landscape designer. Mulcahy has over nine years of experience as a landscape designer with a background in environmental horticulture and urban forestry. She will do arborist studies, park and trail master planning and design, sustainable and low-impact design, forestry, and horticulture. Morris has a master in landscape architecture from the University of Washington and bachelor's in environmental science from Western Washington University. His design experience includes industrial ecological systems, urban parks and streetscapes. Watershed provides natural resources assessment, mitigation and restoration design, environmental planning and permitting, arborist and landscape architecture services.

Lease Crutcher Lewis has eight new project engineers: Charlie Stiens, Drew Cusack, Sterling Kane, Jordan Alcafaras, Robert Scheurman, Grant Doerr, Max Nelson and Micah Humann. Stiens holds EIT certification and a bachelor's degree in construction engineering from Purdue University. He is focusing on healthcare work for Kaiser Permanente. Cusack earned his bachelor's in construction engineering management at Oregon State University. He is working at Seattle Genetics. Kane also holds a bachelor's in construction engineering management from OSU, and has four years of construction experience. He is working at Boeing. Alcafaras has three years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's in construction management from Washington State University. He is on the Building Cure project. Scheurman, Doerr, Nelson and Humann all interned at Lewis last year while earning bachelor's degrees in construction management. Scheurman graduated from WSU and is working on the Indeed.com project. Doerr, Nelson and Humann graduated from the University of Washington. Doerr is working on the Federal Reserve Building redevelopment. Nelson is working on the Third & Lenora job. Humann is working on the UW Population Health Facility project.

In Bellevue, Foushee promoted project managers John Dolence and Olin Wick to operations managers, with Dolence leading new construction and Wick leading tenant improvements. The company also hired Matt Buchanan as business development manager. Dolence has been with the company for 20 years, starting as a carpenter. He replaces Robert Guymer, who retired after 28 years at Foushee. Wick has spent his entire career with Foushee, starting as a project engineer. He replaces Mark Stillwell, a 28-year company veteran. Buchanan previously worked at Sellen Construction, Kidder Mathews and Panattoni Development. He replaces Britt Slone, who retired after 17 years with the company.

CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Co.

The U.S. Department of Energy awarded its Voluntary Protection Program Innovation Award to CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Co. The Hanford Site contractor was recognized for stabilizing a waste storage tunnel after its partial collapse last year.
