Urban Partners will create Town Square

BURIEN -- The Burien City Council yesterday approved Los Angeles-based Urban Partners as master developer of the planned 8- to 10-acre Burien Town Square.

The council approved a six-month exclusive negotiating agreement. That gives Urban Partners, which beat other competitors in a request for qualifications process, has six months to create a Town Square proposal that the city likes.

Urban Partners principal Dan Rosenfeld said his firm is "here to be a part of Burien and to listen."

Rosenfeld's family has owned the 10-acre Burien Plaza shopping center a few blocks from the Town Square acreage for three generations and Rosenfeld revamped that property five years ago.

The Seattle architecture firm of GGLO is Urban Partners' lead designer for the project.
