Pierce County officials are working with hospitality entrepreneurs to develop a “community resort” at Chambers Bay golf course in University Place.
County officials announced yesterday that they signed a memorandum of understanding with James Burkhouse, the president and CEO of Ventur-Hospitality, who grew up in University Place. San Francisco-based Ventur-Hospitality will develop a proposal that covers financing, revenue sharing and a construction schedule. The goal is to complete the project in 2014, a year before Chambers Bay hosts the U.S. Open.
