Velmeir Cos. raised some eyebrows around town earlier this year when it submitted proposals to build three one-story CVS pharmacies in dense neighborhoods such as Wallingford, Lower Queen Anne or Uptown, and West Seattle.
Neighborhood organizations were upset by the proposals that they said were designed with a suburban style that looks more like the 1950's than Seattle in 2013. The City Council even approved a short-term rule to make it difficult for developers to build low density projects in dense neighborhoods.
