Apartment vacancies fall outside Seattle area

Apartment vacancy rates in Pierce, Kitsap and Thurston counties dropped below 5 percent for the first time in more than five years, according to a report from Tom Cain of Apartment Insights Washington.

The market vacancy rate, which excludes new projects that are just being filled, across the three counties is 4.89 percent, which is down from 6.6 percent a year ago.
