OLYMPIA — Low-income victims of recent Washington wildfires will have quicker access to emergency housing, thanks to action by the state Housing Finance Commission.
The commission issued a waiver that allows displaced wildfire victims who earn less than 60 percent of area median income to skip several time-consuming steps when applying for tax-credit apartments in Chelan and Okanogan counties. They can remain in the new housing through Nov. 23 before having to reapply and meet the normal requirements.
