50-year-old real estate company gets new name

Azose

After nearly 50 years, Morris Piha Real Estate Services is now Azose Commercial Properties.

The name change represents the next step for the company, said President and CEO David Azose, though there won't be big changes.

Morris Piha, who founded the company in 1965, died last year.

Azose said the company will continue to provide the same services. Azose Commercial Properties specializes in property management, and Azose said there also will be an emphasis on investment and sales.

Azose Commercial Property Services recently moved from its Bellevue headquarters to Mercer Island.

The family-owned company prides itself on its local roots, and works primarily with local families who own real estate as well as foreign investors. Azose has been with the company since 1977. A cousin of Piha's, Azose joined the company as a property manager after working as a high school teacher. Azose was looking for a career change after he and his wife started a family.

Piha and Joe Diamond had recently bought 18 Olympia properties together, and the property management fee was the about the same as his monthly salary as a teacher.

Azose Commercial Properties manages more than 3.5 million square feet of office, retail and industrial space. The company increased its management holdings by about 25 percent over the last three years.
