Bend works on traffic strategy for west side

    BEND, Ore. — The city of Bend and community volunteers are set to begin envisioning a future for the town's growing west side that avoids two-lane roundabouts and wide swathes of asphalt.

    However, the future they're working to avoid, where roundabouts would more aptly be titled traffic circles, remains one potential transit strategy for an area the city has known would be growing even before OSU-Cascades announced its plans to build a four-year campus there.
