Amazon.com has released the latest designs for its fourth block in the Denny Triangle.
The block is bounded by Seventh and Eighth avenues and Blanchard and Bell streets. The company wants to build 835,200 square feet of office space, 35,000 square feet of retail and 835 underground parking spaces in two structures. One tower would be 23 stories, and the other would be eight, with a walkway on the lower levels to connect the buildings.
Amazon had its second design guidance meeting on the block last night.
On the property today are parking, Hurricane Cafe, Budget car rental lot and a hotel leased to Cornish College of the Arts. Amazon is asking the city for an alley vacation for the project.
Graphite Design Group is listed as the architect.
Amazon tweaked the design following the first design review meeting. A retail pavilion was eliminated to create more open space. Project documents say there will be 31,400 square feet of open space on the block.
Amazon also set the buildings back further from the sidewalk and changed the design to make the ground level either entries to the buildings or retail.
With this block — plus its three other blocks nearby — Amazon is planning to build more than 4.1 million square feet of space in the Denny Triangle.
Construction has already started on two of the blocks.
Amazon has paid $264.3 million for the four blocks.
