SEATTLE — REI will open a third distribution center, this one in Goodyear, Arizona, to improve the delivery of products in the Southwest.
The 400,000-square-foot center will be on 34 acres in suburban Phoenix, and is expected to open in July 2016 with about 120 employees.
The architect is Butler Design Group and the general contractor is Renaissance Companies. REI said it is aiming for a minimum of LEED gold certification.
REI opened seven stores last year and now has 140 stores in 33 states.
REI's distribution centers are in Sumner and Bedford, Pennsylvania. The new distribution center will serve about 40 stores.
