Tarragon has opened the 88-unit Beryl Apartments at 1200 E. Pike St. on Capitol Hill.

The six-story complex has 3,400 square feet of retail at 12th Avenue and East Pike. The residential lobby overlooks a landscaped courtyard with a mural created in collaboration with Urban ArtWorks.

The studio and one- and two-bedroom apartments come with high ceilings and large windows, quartz surfaces, Energy Star stainless steel appliances and water-saving fixtures. Some have private balconies.

There is a 5,800-square-foot rooftop deck, an outdoor lounge, barbecue, dog run and garden plots.

Beryl Apartments' website says rents for a 390-square-foot studio start at $1,005. Rent is $1,920 for a 580-square-foot one-bedroom and up to $3,180 for a 970-square-foot two-bedroom.

Tarragon said in a press release that the building has cantilevered residential floors, colored exterior steel panels, fiber cement siding and residential balconies made of perforated mesh. The site is near the soon-to-open First Hill streetcar line and the light rail station.

Ankrom Moisan Architects was the architect and Compass Construction the general contractor. Also on the team: Coughlin Porter Lundeen, civil engineer; Swenson Say Faget, structural engineer; and Thomas Rengstorf and Associates, landscape architect.

Retail leasing agents are Anne Marie Koehler and Erika Koehler with Jones Lang LaSalle

Tarragon has developed industrial, retail, office and multifamily projects in Washington, California and Nevada.
