ANCHORAGE (AP) — Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz has announced that more than 50 new housing units near Merrill Field will be available for some of the city's most needy residents.
The Alaska Dispatch News reports (http://bit.ly/1Jf9kIc ) that the mayor released a statement Tuesday saying that a rooming facility with 56 units would be offered to people who are alcoholic, homeless or have a mental illness. The facility will be run by the nonprofit Rural CAP at Safe Harbor Inn.
