Seco Development said a 12-story hotel it is building as part of Southport in Renton will be a Hyatt Regency.

The waterfront hotel (shown on the right) is under construction now and will open in 2017, with 347 rooms and 43,000 square feet of conference space.

Seco said in a press release that this will be the first four-star hotel within a 10-mile radius of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

MulvannyG2 Architecture designed the hotel, and Sellen Construction Co. is the general contractor.

Seco estimated the value of Southport when it is done at about $630 million. The mixed-use complex is on a 17.1-acre site on Lake Washington that used to be home to a steam plant. Seco previously built 383 apartments at Southport (shown on the left of the hotel).

The plan is to start construction in January on three office buildings behind the hotel, with about 725,000 square feet. Seco said earlier this year the campus will have a fiber Gigabit Passive Optical Network, with access to up to 100 GB data speeds.

ZGF Architects is designing the office buildings, and Exxel Pacific is the general contractor.

Seco is working on Southport with Seattle Family Regional Center, a federally approved EB-5 center.
